High School Youth Rally

Look Up! “Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” (Isaiah 40:26) Throughout scripture God’s people are encouraged to “Look up”. So often, this glance leads to something wondrous, powerful, hopeful and transformational. God’s covenant with Abraham begins with a hopeful glance at the stars. Jesus first followers’ lives are changed forever following John’s call to look up (at the Lamb of God). Mary chooses “the better part” sitting at the feet of Jesus, looking up in perfect adoration of him. Jesus breaths his last breath on the cross while his mother gazes at him, standing at the foot of the cross. Today, more than ever we are a church that is being challenged to look up. As missionary disciples we are called to point people to Christ just as John the Baptist did with his disciples. We are called to take pause from our busy lives and simply rest at his feet, as Mary did. We are called to embrace Christ in those who suffer and are persecuted, just as Jesus’ friends and mother did at the foot of his cross. Details:

• The Youth Rally is open to all 9-12 graders and youth leaders in the Diocese of Crookston.
• The rally will take place at Crookston High School. Registration begins at 9:30 am, with the rally beginning at 10:00 am. Please note at 4:30 p.m. we will transport to the Cathedral for our closing Mass with Bishop Hoeppner.
• The Keynote speaker for the youth rally is Doug Tooke of ODB Films. Worship music will be provided by In the Name Worship from Minneapolis-St. Paul.
