New Life through the Tender Compassion of our God
Focus on the Family & Vocations
Support of the family, especially parents, is essential to our mission to hand on the faith. Studies show that the most influential factor in determining whether a child will practice their faith when they grow up is the practice of the faith of the parents. Young people who stay in the Church say that their family regularly talked about religious topics in the home, that faith was “very important” to their family and that they themselves were regularly involved in religious activities.
4 essential aspects to help children:
1. parents can explain why their faith is important to them (and why).
2. They are intentional about establishing a religious culture in the home.
3. They expose children to religiously significant practices, relationships and experiences.
4. Help children to interpret the world through the eyes of their faith.
“Our mission flows from our identity, which flows from our relationships.”

Mission Centered Parishes Northland Catholic
Parishes that have strong liturgical and sacramental life, have evangelizing catechesis, are schools of prayer and are robustly living life in Christ. Parishes enable people to live out their charisms focused toward evangelizing. It involves parishes equipping the laity to be evangelizers in addition to providing sacraments and catechesis. This means good sacramental preparation, offering opportunities to study scripture and Church teaching, encouraging small faith-sharing groups to build people’s prayer lives, referent participation in Eucharist, availability of the sacrament of Reconciliation, and helping people learn to pray and discern the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
